Is Corruption is a threat to economic development

The first type is the shortfall in revenues to the state budget. Some data indicate that the annual amount of direct losses is not less than the revenue side of the consolidated budget of the state. As for indirect losses, attempts are being made to evaluate their individual species. As a rule, this is done with the help of regression models, based on the results of intercountry research. In this case, one variable is the level of corruption in the state, and the second — a certain indicator of the effectiveness of its economy.

According to law enforcement agencies, in some sectors of the economy (gas, oil, rare metals) criminal structures spend up to 50% of real profits on bribes to officials. Using the above relationship, it is easy to determine the order of the corresponding sums, estimated in billions of dollars.

Corruption hinders the country’s economic development. It harms the state and society as a whole. The assignment of budgetary funds to civil servants distracts them from the process of creating economic benefits. Lobbying and bribery, artificially created administrative barriers and other corruption manifestations do not allow small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to develop their activities and bring economic benefits to the state, to solve the problem of employment of the population, to meet the needs of citizens.

Russia is constantly improving methods of countering corruption: it introduces amendments to the legislative framework; implements counteraction programs; joins international organizations; highlights high-profile cases in the media; conducts propaganda policy, using banners and on the Internet.

As the modern statistics show, the level of corruption in our country is gradually decreasing, but the need to connect the society, including entrepreneurs, is acute.
